UVAA and the UVAA’s Gallery Committee want to tell you about an exciting project and upcoming exhibition called Faces of The Umpqua Valley Project.

Faces of the Umpqua Valley Project will be a photographic exhibition and a book that looks at our community. The intention is to show our community at a moment in time, depicting the pride and skills that makes this a community that is a pleasure to live in.

We started collecting portraits at The Summer Arts Festival with the help of a News Review photographer, James and a local photographer you may know, Kevin Eckerman. These portraits will be printed onto banners to be displayed outside of UVAA in January 2020.

But that was only the beginning of this ambitious project!

UVAA also plans a photographic installation in the Hallie Brown Ford Gallery, also in January. Do you want to participate in this exciting exhibition? We want you to!

Do you know someone that helps make Douglas County the special place we know it is? Perhaps your barber/hair dresser, a local brewmaster or your tattoo artist, your favorite vender at the farmer’s market or your car insurance sales person or your doctor – who makes Douglas County awesome and unique? Click the link below to nominate this person to have their portrait taken for Faces of the Umpqua Valley Project. Umpqua Valley Art Center wants to celebrate the people of the Umpqua Valley, the everyday people that get on with their job/s and do what they do wholeheartedly.

What can you do?

Please click the link below to nominate the person who you feel goes above and beyond when it comes to serving our community in the unique way/s that they do.

The nomination process Closed on August 31st!

Thank you so much for your nominations.

This Project has been made possible by the Ford Family Foundation and all of you! We especially thank the folks who had their photos taken for this project at the 2019 Summer Arts Festival and who were willing to be the FACES of this project…Thank you!
