It is only through the generosity of the community and individuals that the Umpqua Valley Arts Center is able to provide the level of programming and services throughout Douglas County that we do. It is through their vision of how the arts benefit us all and their commitment to artistic excellence that enables us to keep our existing programs alive as well as being able to initiate new programs.

In 2005, Hallie E. Ford established a one million dollar endowment to support Arts in Education. This extraordinary gift will provide an annual distribution of $45,000 that will be used to expand arts in education to the children of Douglas County. Mrs. Ford has spent her life dedicated to education, youth and the arts. Her gift is one that will impact the community forever.
Established by Dr. John Unruh in honor of his late wife, Betty, this fund supports a variety of programs offered by the Arts Center. Dr. Unruh's had paid tribute to Betty's love of the arts with a gift that will ensure sustainability of artistic programs for the community.
The Ford Family Foundation has provided a $50,000 grant to launch the Art Integration Project in the fall of 2006. The Art Integration Projection is a three-year program that will provide an in-depth art experience for three local elementary schools: Fir Grove, Melrose and Yoncalla.
Mildred Whipple funded 27 artists in residencies last year with a $15,000 gift that brought artists into schools that would not have been able to afford them.
